The effect of higher sensitivity on the evidential value of traces in forensic chemistry

The production, distribution, sale and use of illicit materials is big problem in society, with considerable effect on public health and safety. There is great demand for better and more R&D for the analysis of illicit materials and the use thereof in the criminal justice system. In this presentation we will discuss the effect of an increased sensitivity in some analytical methods on the evidential value in forensic chemistry. We will show the results of the studies we have carried out over the past few years on the analysis of illicit materials in a forensic setting.
